Tokyo holds Paralympics athletics test event without spectators

A Paralympic athletics test event with no spectators is underway at Tokyo’s National Stadium. As organisers weigh up whether to press ahead in the face of mounting pressure to cancel the global spectacle, one Para athlete says she is not sure if it can be said 'with confidence' that the summer Games can be held safely for everyone.

Families of refugee athletes who come from Kenya's Kakuma settlement have been sending them prayers and messages of hope, before they compete at the Olympic Games. They are among 29 athletes and refugees scheduled to compete in Tokyo in 12 sports, under the banner of the Olympic flag, according to the UNHCR.
