Sport of kings: Indian women take reins in modern polo’s birthplace

In the remote Indian state of Manipur, polo dates back centuries - it was there that it came to the attention of British colonialists who formalised the sport as polo, and spread it around the world. Now a group of women players are challenging the rural region's traditions in the so-called 'sport of kings'.

France's former president Fran├žois Hollande granted an interview to FRANCE 24 and RFI on Wednesday, some 10 years after launching Operation Serval, which ousted armed rebels and Islamist militants from northern Mali. Hollande defended the record of French military operations in the Sahel region and expressed regret at the arrival of mercenaries from the Russian paramilitary Wagner Group.
