The US midterm elections are fast approaching, with Democrats and Republicans fighting for control of Congress. Both parties hope to win over Latinos, the fastest-growing voting bloc in the country. DW's Carolina Chimoy traveled to Arizona, which narrowly went to President Joe Biden in 2020.

In the upcoming midterms, US voters will decide which parties control the House and the Senate. Issues like abortion and the economy will likely influence people's decisions. But the poll is about more than that.

Taiwan's parliament has the highest ratio of female to male lawmakers in Asia. Upcoming local elections are set to continue this trend, but many female politicians still have to contend with sexism and harassment.

Since at least 2013, the Nigerian Army has run a secret, systematic and illegal abortion programme in the country’s northeast, terminating at least 10,000 pregnancies among women and girls, many of whom had been kidnapped and raped by Islamist militants, according to dozens of witness accounts and documentation reviewed by Reuters.

Abortions in India are usually permitted only up to 24 weeks of pregnancy. But in a recent landmark ruling, a Delhi court allowed a woman to undergo an abortion in the 33rd week due to fetal abnormalities.

The abortion pill gained more importance after the US Supreme Court's controversial decision last summer to overturn the 1973 Roe V. Wade ruling.
