North Macedonia: Parliament approves deal to start EU bid

North Macedonia's Assembly voted in favor of France's proposal to open the door to talks to join the European Union. The proposal will help overcome Bulgaria's objections to the prospect of North Macedonian membership.

EU leaders held a summit on Thursday with the Western Balkan states to discuss their accession process. For Albania, that started back in 2008 and still hasn't advanced to the negotiations stage.
