Hundreds of protesters in San Francisco mark Juneteenth, the end of slavery and liberation of black people in the US by marching through downtown and calling for increased funding for schools and black youth.

The EU has voted to denounce racism and police brutality both within the bloc and the US in a new resolution, adopting the slogan "Black Lives Matter." The resolution also condemns the "appalling death of George Floyd."

The Covid-19 pandemic cast a long pall over 2020 but it also saw President Donald Trump beaten by Joe Biden in a tumultuous US election and the Black Lives Matter movement shake the world.

A total of eight people, including six Asian women, were killed in three separate attacks Tuesday at spas and massage parlors around Georgia's largest city.

The shooter was charged with eight murders after he launched attack on spas in Atlanta, targeting victims of mostly Asian descent. He has denied being racially motivated, and claimed to have a "sex addiction."
