The concept of parading suspects has been practiced for decades by law enforcement agencies in Nigeria, and continues to be practiced, despite section 36 subsection 5 of the Constitution stating that “every person who is charged with a criminal offence shall be presumed to be innocent until he is proven guilty.”⁣ Almost every week, suspected criminals are paraded before the media only for some of these paraded persons to later be found innocent of the crimes they had previously been accused of committing.⁣ But the police insist there is no law stopping them from parading suspects even before a law court finds suspects guilty or otherwise.⁣
