Founder and Convenor of Lokoja Dialogues, Polly Alakija, has warned that Nigeria’s broken water cycle is threatening livelihoods, food production, public health and economic survival across the country.
Alakija spoke during the inaugural session of Lokoja Dialogues, titled Stories of a Broken Water Cycle, held at the Federal Palace Hotel in Victoria Island, Lagos, on Friday.
She said, “No matter how brilliantly you manage your own reserves, whether it’s upstream, up above or down below, if the water cycle is out of kilter, it’s going to affect you too.”
She said Lokoja Dialogues was created to connect the water challenges facing local communities with policymakers, investors, technical experts and institutions capable of providing lasting solutions.
