Monty Python star Terry Jones has died at the age of 77 after a long battle with a rare form of dementia, sparking an outpouring of tributes. "We have all lost a kind, funny, warm, creative and truly loving man whose uncompromising individuality, relentless intellect and extraordinary humour has given pleasure to countless millions across six decades," his family said in a statement.

India has extended its national lockdown until the end of May, and while it has had more confirmed cases of Covid-19 than China it’s had fewer deaths. The lockdown was extended following clashes between citizens and police. According to the Hindu, some rules will be relaxed with transport, hairdressers and online shopping deliveries resuming. The Hindu’s editors, however, are calling for vigilance as they say the death toll is likely to rise in the coming weeks.
