"Empire" actor Jussie Smollett appeared in court in Chicago on Thursday and pleaded not guilty to falsely reporting to police that he was the victim of a hate-crime assault.

Veteran Nollywood actor, Olukayode Odumosu, popularly known as Pa Kasumu is dead. The 66-year-old actor died this afternoon after struggling with a heart ailment since 2013. He had received financial support from well wishers which facilitated his trip to India but reports say his health worsened upon his return to Nigeria.

Australia's Prime minister Scott Morrison says his country is under a broad cyberattack from a "state-based actor" targeting government, public services and businesses, but declines to name the suspect(s) at this stage. China, Iran, Israel, North Korea, Russia, the United States and a number of European countries are known to have developed advanced cyberwarfare capabilities. But suspicions immediately fell on Beijing, which has clashed repeatedly with Canberra as it looks to increase the cost of Australia speaking out against Communist Party interests.

The robotics startup Exotec has become France's 25th unicorn company, valued at $2 billion after its latest fundraising round. The firm makes robots for e-commerce depots, and counts big names like Carrefour, Uniqlo and Decathlon among its customers. Exotec's CEO Romain Moulin told FRANCE 24 the inspiration for the company actually came from online retail giant Amazon.
