Every 14th of November is recognized as World Diabetes Day, a global day dedicated to raising awareness about diabetes, its prevention, and its impacts on people across all stages of life.
According to the International Diabetes Federation, over 500 million adults worldwide are living with diabetes, and in Nigeria alone, about 1 in 10 adults has it, and many without even knowing.
This year’s theme, “Diabetes Across Life Stages,” reminds us that diabetes can affect anyone, from children to the elderly.
Joining me to unpack this further is Dr. Taiwo Ojo Orobola, a General Family Consultant at Ifako-ijaiye General Hospital. She helps us understand what this means for Nigerians and what can be done to live healthier lives.
