Thousands of poor made homeless in Lagos waterfront evictions

Hundreds of people living in waterfront communities in the sprawling megacity of Lagos are homeless after the state government launched a renewed push to clear settlements in the name of aesthetics and development. Midnight bulldozing and forcible removals continue despite a court ruling three years ago calling the actions illegal and inhumane. Some residents are now fighting back and demanding to return to their homes.
