In a small village deep in central France, the same family has run the "La Promenade" restaurant for four generations. The story began in 1960, when Lucienne created a small bistro. Then Jacky, the son, took over and won the first Michelin star in 1989. Today, the grandson Fabrice watches over this mecca of French gastronomy, and now his son Clément is studying for his chef's diploma. "La Promenade" is a moving family story, whose finest pages are perhaps yet to be written.

A violent attack on several women in northern China earlier this month has raised questions over gender-based violence in the country. CCTV footage from a restaurant in the city of Tangshan showed a man getting rebuffed after he put his hand on the back of a woman. He then slapped her, then with other men beat the group of women before punching, kicking and dragging them outdoors. The Covid-19 pandemic has inevitably taken a heavy toll on France's restaurants. Although some have developed innovative ways of selling their dishes while respecting social distancing rules, most are worried about the huge rise in food deliveries and the advent of "dark kitchens", which cook food for delivery only. The recipes are easy to make and the cost of production is low. Traditional restaurant owners, worried that "dark kitchens" will eat away at their market share, slam an "Amazonification of hospitality". FRANCE 24's team reports.

A month after cannabis was removed from Thailand's narcotics list, a Thai hospital restaurant has rolled out a weed-inspired menu which has curious customers flocking to get a taste. Located in a wellness centre of Chao Phraya Abhaibhubejhr hospital in Prachinburi, about two hours from Bangkok, the restaurant uses up to five leaves in dishes, some of which were traditionally cooked with cannabis before it became illegal.
