The federal government says it is considering a nationwide ban on commercial motorcycles, popularly known as okada. Abubakar Malami, attorney-general of the federation said motorcycles provide the means of transportation for terrorists and several approaches for containing insecurity were being considered.⁣ ⁣

The Lagos State government on May 18, 2022, announced the total ban of the commercial motorcycle, popularly known as Okada. The ban was placed on Six local governments in Lagos. GuardianTV was out to monitor the complaint in parts of the state.

Third Mainland Bridge is the longest of three bridges connecting Lagos Island to the mainland, the other is the Eko and Carter bridges. It was the longest bridge in Africa until 1996 when the 6th October Bridge located in Cairo was completed.

The Lagos state government today made good its word to begin demolishing buildings earlier marked defective. The demolition exercise is coming in the aftermath of a three-story building that collapsed on Wednesday in Ita Faji, a crowded neighbourhood in Lagos Island.
