Floods across 10 states of Nigeria have killed 100 people, a spokesman for the country's emergency and disasters agency said on Monday (September 17). Heavy rains in recent days has resulted in a national disaster in four states - Kogi, Niger, Anambra and Delta, the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) said.

Former head of interrogation at a detention centre in Damascus, Anwar Raslan was found guilty on 4,000 counts of torture and the murder of 27 detainees, less than a year after one of his subordinates was convicted by the same German court.
