Rashford missed a penalty along with teammates Jadon Sancho and Bukayo Saka in the 3-2 shoutout. Rashford responded in a lengthy statement on social media in which he apologised for his penalty miss in the shoot out. The forward wrote: "All I can say is sorry. I wish it had of gone differently." He also said messages of support daubed on a defaced mural of his face left him "on the verge of tears".

Israel Adesanya suffered his first MMA defeat, in Las Vegas on Saturday evening, while challenging Polish fighter Jan Blanchowicz for the Light Heavyweight belt, leaving Izzy 'happy' for Blanchowicz. "If I was going to lose to anyone, I'm glad I lost to him," he said in a post-fight presser. "He's the guy to hand me my first loss in MMA, that's a great story for him, so I'm happy for him."

Around 300 inmates remained at large on Wednesday (July 6) after a suspected raid by Islamist Boko Haram militants on a prison in Nigeria's capital Abuja on Tuesday (July 5) night, an interior ministry official said.
