The fortunes of the world's five richest men have more than doubled since 2020, while three in five people around the globe have been made poorer. Those are just some of the findings in Oxfam's new inequality report, released to coincide with the start of the World Economic Forum, an exclusive gathering of the global elite in Davos, Switzerland.

The world is finding an uneasy equilibrium with a more benign economic backdrop overshadowed by a panoply of geopolitical risks, according to the final Davos panel of 2024.

Calling Vladimir Putin an embodiment of war, Volodymyr Zelensky called on Kyiv's allies to take a tougher stand against Russia. China's Li Qiang focused on trade and the economy, taking aim at what he called disruptive trade barriers.
