Pakistani children face countless hurdles to access education

The new school year has begun in Pakistan’s Punjab province, where access to education is a major challenge. More than 26 million children do not attend school in Pakistan, the majority of them girls. The country has the second-highest number of out-of-school children in the world. Pakistan's prime minister declared a state of emergency over the issue at the beginning of May. However, no concrete action has yet been taken.
