Opinion: Ugandans are tired of Museveni but can’t vote him out

Thomas Kwoyelo faces more than 70 charges - including murder, rape and the recruitment of child soldiers. He becomes the first LRA commander to be tried by a Ugandan court, marking a watershed moment for the country's judicial system. Mr Kwoyelo has consistently denied the charges against him.

FRANCE 24 spoke to Uganda's main opposition leader, Robert Kyagulanyi, better known as Bobi Wine. The star musician-turned-politician called for "civil disobedience, a moral uprising, a revolution" in Uganda, which has been ruled for 38 years by President Yoweri Museveni.

The sanctions target parliamentry speaker Anita Among and two former ministers for the Karamoja region who allegedly stole thousands of iron sheets from a government housing scheme.
