Today is election day in Edo State. Both the INEC and the Nigerian security agencies are prepared for the exercise. 35,000 police officers have been deployed to ensure peace and order during the election with about 500 officers with specialized training. Edo has over 2.6 million registered voters, with 85% of them having collected their PVC's making approximately 2.3 million eligible voters ready to vote today. INEC has also deployed about 5000 BVAS machines and trained over 18,000 ad-hoc staff to manage the election across the 18 local government areas of the State.
