Cement maker Lafarge goes on trial in France for ‘funding terrorism’ in Syria. The company and eight former employees are standing trial for having paid money to jihadist groups to keep a plant in Syria running. Unusually, Lafarge had already pleaded guilty to this charge before US courts in 2022.
