A usual Saturday afternoon turned disruptive at Primary School Ajegunle, off Ita-Oluwo, Ikorodu, when community members caught an alleged child kidnapper attempting to kidnap a young boy in the area. On December 27th, 2025, residents of Supreme CDA Malato, off Ita-Oluwo Bustop in Ikorodu, narrated how the event unfolded.

A little boy had gone to buy snacks nearby, and on his way back, the alleged kidnapper tried to lure him, but he took to his heels. The attention of some young men in the neighborhood was drawn to the young boy running, and they asked him what was going on before he pointed to the man, who was disguised as a madman. They challenged the man, who then attempted to run away, before he was eventually caught.

The suspect, when caught, didn’t have any tangible explanation to refute the allegations against him. After being severely beaten, a journalist from The Guardian, who was not too far from the community, arrived and prevented the mob from carrying out jungle justice, insisting the suspect be handed over to security personnel.

The message from this event is clear: security is everyone’s business. Stay vigilant, and when you see something, ensure you say something!
