Young Muslim women in Germany often experience a “between worlds” feeling, caught between their German and Muslim identities, facing discrimination in some parts of society and judgmental attitudes within their own communities. They may feel pressure to conform to stereotypes, yet many are also actively engaged in society and use their identity, including wearing a headscarf, as a form of self-expression and agency. This can lead to feelings of isolation, but they are also actively seeking to shape society and navigate the challenges of balancing their convictions with societal expectations.
