In Sudan, hundreds of thousands of people face severe hunger due to a blockade that has cut off humanitarian access and food supplies for over a year. In April 2024, the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces imposed a siege on El Fasher, in a bid to take the city from Sudan’s army. Many residents fleeing El Fasher have sought shelter in Tawila, where some aid is avaliable.
