Fight against insurgency – Osinbajo wants military to change tactics

A decade on, the world has largely forgotten about the Chibok girls, who were kidnapped by Nigeria's Boko Haram Islamist militants. But for victims and their families, like Solomon Maina, who is still waiting for news about his daughter, the tragedy is ongoing.

The country's ruling junta is stepping up cooperation with Moscow, after expelling French troops last year. With the rate of insurgency in Borno State, many lives and families have been severely affected, with thousands being displaced and forced to live in internally displaced camps (IDP). A mother, who has lost neighbors, family, friends, and loved ones still in captivity, shares her heartbreaking experience of living in constant fear. She calls on the government to provide more basic amenities to help her and others in the IDP camp in Chabbol village, Borno state.

Fuel shortages in Nigeria have raised the price of gasoline and caused huge queues in cities like the capital Abuja, in a country already grappling with high inflation and a cost of living crisis.
