Trail of Gambian man accused of war crimes gets underway in Germany

A man accused of working for a notorious Gambian death squad run by former president Yahya Jammeh goes on trial in Germany on the principle of universal jurisdiction. Bai Lowe is accused of murdering renowned journalist Deyda Hydara in 2004. Also in this edition, African leaders congratulate French President Emmanuel Macron on his reelection. And Nigerian authorities say they have no choice but to bury the remains of more than 100 victims of an explosion in a mass grave.
