For years, "Cracks" kept a deep secret: she has bipolar disorder but has been afraid to open up due to a Chinese cultural stigma against mental illness. Despite mounting stress in a fast-modernising China, mental illness is rarely spoken about publicly, forcing millions to struggle alone.
