Instagram launches new messaging app ‘Threads’

Users will only be able to message people from their “Close Friends” list on Instagram. Messages sent to those who have not yet downloaded the app will go to the person’s regular DM inbox. The app will directly compete with Snapchat as a means of private messaging for young people.
