A viral post claiming Mohammed Nazzal, a Palestinian prisoner recently released by Israel was ‘staging’ his injuries that he claims he received at the hands of Israeli authorities in jail. In this edition of Truth or Fake, Vedika Bahl fact-checks this story, and looks into the claims of abuse by Israeli officials towards Palestinian prisoners.

Many pro-Israel accounts - and even the official State of Israel account - claim they’ve spotted staged Palestinian ‘actors’ faking suffering in the Gaza Strip, i.e. "Pallywood." They point to one in particular, accusing a Gazan ‘on the ground’ account of posing as critically ill, before being seen in the street brandishing a gun or pretending to have lost his son.
