Israel has announced that it plans to establish a buffer zone between Israel and Gaza, despite objections from its key ally Washington. Satellite imagery obtained by the FRANCE 24 Observers confirms that 40 percent of the buildings within this planned buffer zone have already been demolished. Earlier this month, Israel was also accused of attempting to create a “buffer zone” between itself and Gaza, after satellite imagery showed that it had demolished hundreds of buildings within the besieged enclave that sit within 1km (0.6 miles) of the border.
