A man has been shot dead after ramming a car at two police officers near the complex housing the US Congress. One of the officers has also died.

The shooter was charged with eight murders after he launched attack on spas in Atlanta, targeting victims of mostly Asian descent. He has denied being racially motivated, and claimed to have a "sex addiction."

The FBI and local authorities are investigating after a series of shootings in the Atlanta area, says Crisp County Sheriff Billy Hancock, after state troopers and county law enforcement apprehended a white 21-year-old male suspect.
