In the space of just a few years, the small Central American nation of Costa Rica has become a global laboratory for decarbonisation. Costa Rica is the world's only tropical country that has managed to reverse the process of deforestation: forests now cover more than half its surface. It’s also one of the few countries to get almost all its electricity (99 percent) from renewable sources. Costa Rica's inspiring and bold example reflects badly on major world powers, which have considerably more resources available to achieve their climate goals. In Portugal's Agueda valley, south of Porto, the bike manufacturing industry is flourishing, particularly for electric bicycles. No other EU country makes more bikes than Portugal. The nation of 10 million inhabitants, or just over 2 percent of the EU population, produces a quarter of the bloc's bicycles. The book, 'The Nigerian Flagship' authored by Aaron Ukodie and Seun Ogunseitan, tells the story behind the creation of the paper and its founding publisher, Alex Uruemu Ibru. The 600-page book captures first-hand memoirs of experiences by former staff, narrating what went into the creation of the iconic brand that is called The Guardian.
Alex Ibru (1 March 1945 – 20 November 2011) was a Nigerian businessman, founder, and publisher of The Guardian newspaper and the former Minister of Internal Affairs from 1993 to 1995.

The story of Leah Sharibu's capture and her continued detention by the Boko Haram insurgents as a result of her defiance of compromise and refusal to renounce her faith is the stuff of legend. Leah, then 14, was abducted with 109 other girls of the Dapchi Technical College. Of the 110 girls abducted, five died in captivity while 104 were released on March 20, 2018. Leah Sharibu alone was not released because she refused to renounce her faith and convert to Islam as demanded by her captors.
