In this special programme from London, we look back at Queen Elizabeth II's life as a cultural icon. During her 70-year reign, the late monarch was the subject of countless portraits, photographs and artworks around the world. Artist Nicky Philipps painted the queen's official portrait three times. She speaks to Eve Jackson about their sittings together, the stories Elizabeth II shared and the moment she had to tell the queen to close her mouth.

Photographer Alexander Glyadyelov has covered conflicts all over the world. But now the battlefield is his own country, Ukraine, and the frontline his home city of Kyiv. The award-winning photographer speaks to us from the Ukrainian capital about documenting the consequences of the Russian invasion, including harrowing scenes involving civilian casualties. We also take a look at an exhibition at the Ukrainian Cultural Centre of Paris, which is showcasing the work of photographers on the ground, whether it's the view from their makeshift bomb shelters or the scenes of destruction in towns across the country.

A self-portrait by Mexican artist Frida Kahlo sold at auction on Tuesday for a record-breaking $34.9 million, the highest price ever paid for a Latin American art ever sold at auction. Diego y yo (Diego and I) depicts Kahlo's tumultuous second marriage to Mexican muralist Diego Rivera. Completed in 1949, the painting is Kahlo's final fully-realized bust self-portrait before she died in 1954 at the age of 47.

A giant 400 metre-long portrait of Bangladesh's founding leader Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in a rice field is adding to the mania to honour the slain president as celebrations mark the country's independence 50 years ago. A private seed firm spent two months designing and planting purple and green rice over the 13 hectares (33 acres) of land to make the portrait of the father of current Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

They're often unable to access state services because they have no permanent address, and they're also physically pushed out of the country's urban centres. What's it like growing up as a traveller in modern-day Ireland? German photographer Tamara Eckhardt has been documenting daily life in a traveller community on the outskirts of Galway. She joined us for Perspective ahead of a group exhibition for young photographers here in Paris.
