Nigeria expects to produce 23 million metric tonnes of maize this year, a 12% rise from last year, thanks to cheaper credit from the central bank, which has helped blunt the high costs of fertiliser and diesel, the maize growers association said.

The Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) has agreed to increase output curbs in early 2020. The agreement, which needs to be formally adopted later today, will cut an extra 500,000 barrels per day of production, through tighter compliance and some adjustments.
