An officer of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) on Tuesday was allegedly shot dead by an unidentified police officer in Abuja. The NSCDC officer identified as Ogar Ochigbo was confirmed dead at Asokoro District Hospital, Abuja where he was taken to after the incident.

The Senate on Thursday said that it has mandated the FCT Police Commissioner and Commandant, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps to flush out beggars, hoodlums and commercial sex workers, etc from the streets of the FCT.
