Today, one in three Egyptians live just above the poverty line. As a consequence, the rate of micro-credit lending has grown, with women the principle beneficiaries. Some 70 percent of loans in Egypt are given to women, but thousands of them fall victim to loan sharks and even end up in prison. FRANCE 24's Ruth Michaelson reports.

Raped, arrested and jailed, Ayomide Idowu narrates his ordeal to GuardianTV. Idowu tells us how he was picked up by members of the Nigerian police force on a routine check somewhere in CMS. He further states how a higher court who revisited his case file after been sentenced by a previous court found him not guilty of any wrongdoing and acquitted.
