Nigeria-born Allen, the drumming pioneer who, along with the revered musician Fela Kuti, helped define the Afrobeat genre, passed away on April 30 in the French capital Paris.⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ He was a self-taught drummer and did not pick up the sticks until he was 18. But that did not stop many from describing him as perhaps the greatest drummer ever.⁣⁣⁣
