Two Canadians and a top Chinese executive are on their way home after a deal with US authorities put an end to a three year diplomatic spat. Meng Wanzhou, the chief financial officer of China's Huawei telecoms giant, was arrested in Canada in 2018 on US charges of violating sanctions. Weeks later Beijing detained two Canadian citizens in China in what was seen as an act of retaliation.

According to an investigation by AP news, Myanmar's military has been systematically torturing detainees in the wake of pro-democracy protests in the country. The military junta has arrested more than 7,000 people since a coup in February of this year.

"We don't know where my brother is." Cubans are looking for their detained relatives in a police station near the town of La Guinera, in Havana, where unprecedented protests erupted the day before.
