The town of Lielvārde in Latvia has attracted attention from social media users after images and video of its Christmas tree – decorated with swastikas – were posted online. Internet users were quick to condemn the move as "fascist" and "pro-Nazi" - but is all as it seems? We take a closer look in this edition of Truth or Fake with Vedika Bahl.

Lebanese launch lanterns in Beirut's Gemmayzeh neighbourhood during the lighting of a Christmas tree, in memory of the victims of the devastating August explosion at the Port of Beirut. Firefighters stand in front of the Christmas tree created by Lebanese artist Hayat Nazer and decorated with uniforms of firefighters and rescue workers as a way to pay tribute to those who died in the blast.

It's going to be a great year," says US President Donald Trump during the National Tree Lighting ceremony, which was pre-recorded due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The President was joined by the First Lady Melania Trump who had the honor of lighting the 30-foot Colorado blue spruce at the White House.
