This pedestrian bridge at Five Star Bus Stop, along the ever-busy Oshodi-Apapa Expressway, is anything but a five-star facility. With nothing acting as a barrier between pedestrians and a probable 40-foot plunge to their doom, it’s sadly one of the most dangerous bridges in the world.

After 11 months it was closed to traffic, the Toyota-Murtala Mohammed Airport Road link bridge has opened to traffic. Repair works commenced on the damaged bridge after six months of closure and it was meant to open to traffic by the end of September but the government further delayed reopening to carry out additional work.

Drivers of commercial buses, popularly called ‘Danfo', along the Oshodi-Apapa Expressway, are protesting over the incessant extortion they face from state officials. They are accusing the men of the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation and Special Offences Unit (Task Force) and officials of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) of extortion.

The Lagos State Government has announced the diversion of traffic on Apapa-Oshodi Expressway for repair work on the Airport Flyover Bridge by the Federal Ministry of Works from August 9 to October 3, 2021. A statement signed by the Commissioner for Transportation, Dr. Frederic Oladeinde, explained that the Oshodi-bound lane would be barred from vehicular movement from midnight on 9th August 2021 and reopened partially on the midnight of 14th August 2021 for the first phase of repairs.⁣

Michelangelo dreamed it, Olivier Grossetête did it: the artist from Marseille has created a cardboard bridge over the Tiber River in Rome to link the gardens of the Villa Farnesina to the Farnese Palace, a splendid Renaissance building that houses the French embassy. The 18-metre structure is suspended by three helium-filled balloons measuring six metres in diameter.
