Real, Barcelona and Juventus defend Super League amid UEFA threats

The three clubs say they have received "unacceptable" threats from UEFA and FIFA since the project collapsed just two days after it was announced last month.

Hollywood action star Dwayne Johnson on Wednesday said he would not use real guns in his movies anymore after a fatal shooting incident involving actor Alec Baldwin on a film set in New Mexico last month. Johnson, who was out in Los Angeles attending the world premiere of his new Netflix blockbuster, "Red Notice," with co-stars Ryan Reynolds and Gal Gadot, said films made by his production company, Seven Buck Productions, would "not use real guns ever again."

A fact-checking media in Mali has identified false claims of child harvesting in Nigeria – so-called "baby factories". The claim that the images in question are recent is bogus, but a real phenomenon of child harvesting does exist in Nigeria. Also, a Canadian media dramatically claimed that the wife of Pfizer's CEO died due to the Covid-19 vaccine. In fact, she is alive and well.

France and Real Madrid forward Karim Benzema was found guilty of complicity in the attempted blackmail of a former international team mate over a sex tape on Wednesday and sentenced to a one-year suspended jail term. He was also fined 75,000 euros ($84,170). Benzema's lawyer said the player would appeal against the verdict.

Since September, the name Evergrande has caused panic on stock exchanges around the world. Paralysed by $300 billion in debt (€260 billion), or the equivalent of 2 percent of Chinese GDP, the country's second-largest real estate developer is now threatening Chinese growth. Evergrande has more than 1,300 construction projects across China, as well as financial products, electric cars, livestock, bottled water and even a football club.

Barcelona unveiled new signing Ferran Torres at Camp Nou on Monday and the former Manchester City striker said he was ready to get going after being sidelined since October with a fractured foot. "I'll be ready in less than two weeks," the 21-year-old Spaniard, who suffered a minor fracture on his right foot during last year's Nations League campaign, told hundreds of Barca supporters present at the unveiling.
