At least nine are dead and 50 injured in what authorities say appears to be an attack on a Christmas market in Berlin.

In one incident, two girls and a boy were confronted by a group of nine people in the Berlin neighborhood of Mitte. Elsewhere in the capital, a man was physically assaulted in the early hours of Sunday morning.
A highway in Berlin remains blocked as firefighters continue to tackle a blaze in the city's Grunewald forest.
