Three pro-democracy figures have been charged with violating royal defamation laws over a rally in Bangkok last year. They were also charged with sedition, along with 15 other protesters.

The Federal High Court, Abuja, yesterday varied the conditions of bail granted to the former Chairman of Pension Reform Task Team, Abdulrasheed Maina. Maina is facing trial over alleged money laundering. Justice Okon Abang who granted the application for bail variation ordered Maina to produce N500m and one surety who must be a serving senator with landed property fully developed in Maitama, Asokoro, Business Central District, Wuse II, or Kantamkpe District of Abuja, with Certificate of Occupancy attached as evidence.

The immediate past Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Mohammed Adoke (SAN), has been freed from custody. The ex-AGF has been in the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission after he was arrested upon his return from a self-exile, on December 19, 2019. He regained his freedom on Monday shortly after he was granted bail in the fresh money laundering charges instituted against him by the EFCC.

Derek Chauvin, the 44-year-old white officer who was filmed pressing his knee on the handcuffed Floyd's neck for nearly nine minutes, made his first court appearance on Monday. Chauvin did not enter a plea and the Hennepin County District Court judge set his bail at $1 million with conditions, or $1.25 million without.
