Shiite Muslims across the world mark Ashura

Millions of Shiite Muslim worshippers across the world gather for Ashura, an annual mourning ritual commemorating the martyrdom of Prophet Mohammad's grandson Imam Hussein who was killed in the battle of Karbala in modern-day Iraq, in 680 AD. It is one of the holiest days during the Islamic month of Muharram.
