Oktoberfest – a taste of Bavaria in Myanmar

Toru Kubota is the fifth foreign journalist detained in Myanmar since the military seized power in February 2021. He is accused of stoking dissent against the military government.

Germany's world-famous Oktoberfest has kicked off for the first time since the pandemic. Despite fears that the event could lead to an increase in COVID-19 infections, there aren't any restrictions in place this year.
