Merkel confirms: Coalition talks have collapsed

Exploratory talks on forming a new coalition government for Germany have collapsed. The business-friendly FDP bailed out of negotiations - saying it had failed to find common ground on key issues with Chancellor Angela Merkel's conservative alliance and the Greens.
