Long lines at supermarkets, ongoing curfews, nights spent with strangers in underground train stations — DW's Alexander Savitsky reports on life in the Ukrainian capital, Kyiv, amid Russia's continuing military strikes.

Three weeks ago at dawn, Russian President Vladimir Putin declared the start of a "special military operation" in Ukraine. Since then, Ukrainian forces have fought back against the full-scale invasion. Some 3 million people have already fled the country, and the UN estimates that 2 million more are internally displaced. FRANCE 24's Rob Parsons, Clovis Casali and Abdallah Malkawi went to meet Ukrainian soldiers, as well as regular citizens – some trying to flee, others choosing to stay and resist.

After Russia's withdrawal from the areas around Kyiv, many people are returning to their homes or what's left of them. DW's Rebecca Ritters has traveled to Irpin, where residents have started to rebuild – unsure of what the future might hold.

Residents of a town in northeastern Bangladesh navigated through flooded streets on Monday as the country experiences what officials have called some of its worst monsoon floods in recent history. Monsoon rains in low-lying Bangladesh have triggered catastrophic flooding in Sylhet, leaving a quarter of its 15 million population stranded amid fast-rising waters and swollen rivers.

Two localities in the German state of Brandenburg had to be evacuated as a large forest fire rages on the border with neighboring Saxony. Efforts to dampen the flames werre hampered because of old munitions in the area.
