Inmates escape in ongoing IS attack on Afghan prison

A high number of prisoners have escaped an Afghan jail following a deadly IS assault, local sources have said. The prison houses over 1,500 inmates, mostly captured members of IS and the Taliban.

Around 300 inmates remained at large on Wednesday (July 6) after a suspected raid by Islamist Boko Haram militants on a prison in Nigeria's capital Abuja on Tuesday (July 5) night, an interior ministry official said.
