Gdansk: A city in mourning buries its murdered mayor

The Polish city of Gdansk is saying farewell to its mayor, who was stabbed to death at a charity concert. The suspected attacker's mother has told police she was concerned that her son was planning political revenge.

A cemetery for art objects has been set in one of the Lithuanian villages, Narvaisiai, as footage filmed on Saturday shows. Juozas Laivys the creator of the cemetery, explained the idea by saying that art pieces have their right to die as they have their right to live, adding that it’s a way for artists to pay tribute to their creations.

Following a call of defiance from the “Highlanders’ Veto” movement, the first restaurants and hotels in Poland’s Tatra Mountains re-open despite a partial lockdown. Police and health officials have conducted inspections, fining business owners 30,000 zloty (around 6,600 euros) each. On Monday, Poland's government extended most of the anti-virus restrictions through the end of the month, requiring ski slopes, gyms and hotels to remain closed to the general public and restaurants to only do takeaway service.
