China suspends 737 Max certificate

Boeing says it will submit a final software fix for the 737 Max to the FAA by the end of the week and says the update has already been flight tested. However, China’s aviation regulator has suspended its own airworthiness certificate for the Max, saying it must carry out its own review.

The 777X was born as an idea all the way back in 2013. A report by a US Senate Committee has raised concerns by whistleblowers about the safety approval process for new aircraft, in the wake of the deadly Boeing 737 MAX crashes in 2018 and 2019. Senators spoke to whistleblowers at Boeing, its supplier GE, and engineers working for the Federal Aviation Administration.
