Some residents have decided not to leave their homes despite the Dixie Fire that has been raging in the forests of northern California since mid-July. The fires have grown so big that it is generating its own weather system.

Buildings lay in ruins, cars sit scorched and trees stand charred after what the governer called a "climate-induced" wildfire. Tokyo residents react after Japan's ruling party elected former foreign minister Fumio Kishida its new leader, setting him on course to become the next prime minister of the world's third-largest economy.
